A message from Auxiliary President Roseann Nemec
Brothers and sisters,
Thank you for the great honor of being installed as District 2 President for the ensuing year. It is an absolute privilege to serve you and our veterans. I look forward to working alongside District 2 Commander John Chrzanowski and his offices, as we fulfill our program requirements. Together we will meet the challenges before us.
The biggest challenge that both the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary faces is a decline in membership. This year in our district, we are losing a VFW Post and two Auxiliaries. What can we do to build our membership? Are we actively seeking new members? What are we doing to make our organization more inviting to younger veterans? Can we expand the eligibility for membership into the VFW Auxiliary?
This year along with Past District 2 Commander Thomas Marshall, I will be working on a proposed resolution to the National Bylaws of the VFW Auxiliary. With the guidance of National Council of Administration member Bill Thomson, we will be proposing that a person who has honorable service in the military, but is not eligible for the VFW, may join the VFW Auxiliary. These veterans have served our Country and wish to continue serving through the VFW Auxiliary and its programs. I am hopeful that the District 2 Auxiliary will endorse this proposal, so that it can be presented to the Department of New Jersey for their endorsement.
In closing, I would like to share a quote from Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Together, the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary will succeed. With this I would like to wish everyone a blessed, prosperous and a great 2018/2019 year.
There will be two School of Instructions, please try to have Auxiliary Presidents, Treasures, Secretaries and Trustees attend.
